No response from DNS using LDAP Backend on RHEL5

Issue

On a bind SDB server using Redhat Directory Server as the backend, lookups are running very slowly. All other components are working fine now, and we can even query the LDAP directly. However, the Bind DNS Server is still unable to respond to any queries.
