Why do we need this parameter "rdloaddriver=scsi_dh_alua" in grub on RHEL 6.4 for NetApp LUN Devices

Solution Unverified - Updated -

  • Server works fine when it is loaded with this kernel parameter on grub - "rdloaddriver=scsi_dh_alua" on RHEL 6.4, but why this is needed when "RHEL 5" servers doesn't need this parameter.

  • Multipath issue after rebooting the hosts. Local vgoracle filesystems are getting corrupted and some of the ASM disks are missing.
