Frozen screen in spice client - virt-viewer

Issue

  • The windows spice client (virtual machine viewer) randomly freezes under certain conditions. The issue seems to be only observed while running a clipboard manager like parcellite or klipper.

Environment

RHEV Infrastructure:

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization [RHEV] 3.3:
    • rhevm-spice-client version 3.3-11.el6_5, and 3.3.12.el6_5, which delivers the cab files for the Windows virtual machine viewer 0.5.6-20 and 0.5.6-22
  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization [RHEV] 3.4:
    • rhevm-spice-client version 3.4-3.el6_5, which delivers the cab files for the Windows virtual machine viewer 0.5.6-23

Virtual Machine:

  • RHEL 6 or 7 with spice-vdagent, ovirt-agent and a clipboard manager like parcellite or klipper installed and active. Behaviour is observed with multiple versions, including spice-vdagent-0.14.0-3.el6_5.x86_64
