httpd proxy returns 502 after long delay

Issue

  • We proxy from httpd to JBoss over https with mod_cluster or mod_proxy. Sometimes httpd returns a 502 error for proxied requests after a long delay passes and the Timeout or ProxyTimeout is hit.
