I cannot get Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 Update 4 to recognize the Serial ATA (SATA) hard drives on my Dell Precision 670.

I cannot get Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 Update 4 to recognize the Serial ATA (SATA) hard drives on my Dell Precision 670. I have tried loading drivers from Dell but this does not work either. On Updates and 2,3 the devices are recognized. Is there a workaround to this issue? I am seeing the following error:
An error has occurred - no valid devices were found
