Diffrent version of "Red Hat Satellite channel" is subscribed to Red Hat Satellite Server under RHN portal..
Environment
- Red Hat Satellite 5.x
- Red Hat Network
Issue
Red Hat Satellite channelsubscribed to satellite server on RHN portal is of different version than the installed satellite server.- Channel version for satellite does not match with the installed Satellite version.
Resolution
- Confirm the Schema version of Red Hat Satellite by running this command on the Satellite Server:
# rhn-schema-version
For eg:
[root@Satellite ~]# rhn-schema-version
5.5.0.20-1.el6sat
The above output shows that the satellite version is '5.5'.
- After getting information of the Satellite version generate a Satellite certificate for the same version and activate it on the Satelltie Server by running this command:
# rhn-satellite-activate -vvv --rhn-cert= path to the certificate file
- Now the satellite server will be subscribed to proper "Red Hat Satelltie" channel.
Root Cause
- Satellite channel version is decided by the version of satellite certificate activated on Satellite server.
- Wrong version of satellite certificate was activated on the satellite server which caused this issue, while upgrading a satellite to latest version use a satelltie certificate of latest version.
