userdel -r sometimes removing the primary group of the user as well

Issue

  • userdel -r will sometimes remove the group if it has the same name as the user.
  • I can't find a hint in the manpage, why userdel -r sometimes removes the primary group of the user as well. According to the manpage only the option -f should do that.
