rpm command hangs with root user

Issue

  • When rpm command is run with root user, terminal hangs. When run as regular user it finishes normally.

  • As regular user:

$ rpm -q glibc
glibc-2.12-1.80.el6.x86_64
glibc-2.12-1.80.el6.i686
  • As root:
# rpm -q glibc

^C

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.3
  • rpm-4.8.0-27.el6.x86_64
