Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

Missing quote on alias in /etc/multipath.conf can result in empty entries in dmsetup

multipath {
   wwid "350002ac005303ac0"
   alias "oracleasm <----- No ending "
}

Running multipath errors as expected, but dmsetup shows an empty entry
