Kdump kernel fails to initialise e1000e driver on a two port 82571EB Gigabit Ethernet device

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • When performing a kdump on a IBM Power system running RHEL 6.1, the Intel e1000e driver may report the failure to initialize the ethernet device along with reporting EEH errors. This in turn may prevent networking to be configured to allow kdump to transfer a vmcore over the network.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux(RHEL) 6.1
