Is it safe to use -o nobarrier mount option in a guest?

We'd like to decide whether to recommend -o nobarrier option . It is Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4 as a guest on a physical server connected to a storage with battery-backed caches.
Q1. What problem happens if nobarrier option is specified? Q2. Please let us know occurring conditions of the problemAlso whether the problem occurs in the following Environment.
- RHEL 6.4 for the guest OS on ESXi.
- Physical server is connected to a storage with battery-backed caches.
- virtual disks configurations
- Guest OS system data on VMDK files on ESXi data store
- DB data shared by multiple guests by Raw Device Mapping on a storage with battery-backed caches.
