Why incremental channel dump ISOes are having less number of packages as compare to RHN ?

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • There appears to be more updates than what was downloaded from the incremental list when using the -m option for local satellite syncs,

    • From channel dump ISO,
    # satellite-sync -m /mnt/disk1 -c rhel-i386-server-5 --email >/dev/null 2>1

    ** /var/log/rhn/rhn_server_satellite.log **

    2014/02/03 10:56:31 -04:00 Importing *relevant* package metadata: rhel-i386-server-5 (8)

    • From the RHN,
    # satellite-sync -c rhel-i386-server-5 --email >/dev/null 2>1 &

    ** /var/log/rhn/var/log/rhn/rhn_server_satellite.log **
    2014/02/03 15:33:12 -04:00 Importing package metadata
