Resolution

  • Delete the channel repodata on the satellite server and regenerate the same by restart the taskomatic service:
   # rm -rf /var/cache/rhn/repodata/<channel lable>
   # service taskomatic restart
  • Monitor the files under directory /var/cache/rhn/repodata/<Channel lable>/,at start we can see files with *.new extension. Once all files with *.new extension get removed then try the steps mentioned below on client.

  • On client system execute these commands:

  # rm -rf /var/cache/yum/*
  # yum check-update
  # yum update

Root Cause

  • Repodata of the particular channel on Red Hat Satellite Server was corrupt, regenerating the data resolved the issue.
