rsyslog calls rotation script twice

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

If rsyslog is set to call handmade rotation script and inside that script we place a check that the file to be rotated exists and is non-empty to print an error if that is not true, then when rsyslog is under high load the error message gets printed sometimes. The higher the load, the more the error messages printed, which means the log rotation script gets called twice at the same time.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4
  • rsyslog-5.8.10-7 and above
