RHN Proxy stopped working with 'Abuse of Service detected' message
Environment
- Red Hat Network Proxy 5.4 or later
Issue
- RHN Proxy stopped working with 'Abuse of Service detected' message
Fault: <Fault -49: 'Error Message: Abuse of Service detected for server rhnproxy.example.com (1025258720)
Error Class Code: 49
Error Class Info:
You are getting this error because RHN has detected an abuse of
service from this system and account. This error is triggered when
your system makes too many connections to Red Hat Network. This
error can not be triggered under a normal use of the Red Hat Network
service as configured by default on Red Hat Linux.
The Red Hat Network services for this system will remain disabled
until you will reduce the RHN network traffic from your system to
acceptable limits.

Resolution
- Make sure that system ID of the proxy obtained from Red Hat Network (RHN) RHN matches with the system ID in the systemid file. If the IDs are different, delete the profile from RHN and re-register the server using
rhn_register.- On RHN go to
Subscriptions-> RHN Classic-> Registered Systems -> <system name>and findRHN System ID. - Compare the RHN System ID with content of the systemid file
- On RHN go to
grep ID /etc/sysconfig/rhn/systemid

- Make sure that the server has assigned Management and Provisioning entitlements on RHN
- On RHN Go to
Subscriptions-> RHN Classic-> Registered Systems -> <system name> -> Edit These Properties. - Select
Managemententitlement and checkProvisioningadd-on entitlement. - Click on 'Update Properties`.
- On RHN Go to
- Proceed with Proxy registration once again.
