Does RHEL supports "Microchip Technology / SMSC LAN743X" cards ?

Issue

  • Does RHEL support Microchip LAN743X cards?
  • When support for the LAN743X driver will be added in RHEL?

Resolution

Microchip Technology / SMSC LAN743X devices are not supported as of now in RHEL. Currently RHEL Engineering team
having a discussion about whether the LAN743X driver is to be added in RHEL or not

In the meantime, we suggest:

  • Use a different NIC card which is supported in RHEL
  • Engage the hardware vendor to get the driver for Microchip Technology / SMSC LAN743X devices.

NOTE: If any issue occurs with respect to the driver shipped by a third-party vendor, please contact the
third-party vendor for support.
