Is it possible to continue with same package updates after upgrading to a major version?

• Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)

Issue

• The old Red Hat Enterprise Linux server5 will be shutdown and a new major version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux server6 will take over it.
  So need to continue the same package updates on new RHEL server as it was on old server. Is it posible?

Resolution

• It is impossible to continue with same package update on a new version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Because, the packages on two major versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux are not similar one. Also the Package versions of two major Red Hat Enterprise Linux versions are also different.
