I'm getting error "A Java Runtime Environment (JRE) or Java Development Kit (JDK) must be available in order to run Jbdevstudio. No Java virtual machine was found after searching the following locations: xxx" when trying to run JBDS.

Issue

The following errors occur when starting JBDS:

A Java Runtime Environment (JRE) or Java Development Kit (JDK)
must be available in order to run Jbdevstudio. No Java virtual machine
was found after searching the following locations:
xxx

The possible cause is that the jdk/jre got updated at one time because the yum.log shows a different java jdk version than the location mentioned in the error message.

[xxx ~]$ sudo grep java /var/log/yum.log
xxxxxx Updated: 1:java-yyyyyyyyyyy

Environment

  • JBoss Developer Studio(JBDS)
