Issue

  • Why do I see older version of a package having executed "yum update" while I build a custom package with newer version?
  • I have a custom mod_ssl rpm installed on a system (mod_ssl-2.2.21). The rpm package was built using the spec file that Apache includes with the 2.2.21 source code. When running a yum update I would expect that the system would ignore versions below 2.2.21. However when I update packages on the system it attempts to install the latest Red Hat mod_ssl package - which is mod_ssl-2.2.3-53. Any thoughts on why this would occur and how I can address it?
