Why does my failover domain show as nonexistent in the log when I start a cluster service in a RHEL 5 or 6 High Availability cluster?

Solution Verified - Updated -

  • When starting a cluster managed service, the following error appears in /var/log/messages:
rgmanager: #66: Domain 'failover' specified for resource group service:<service name> nonexistent!

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5 or 6 with the High Availability Add On
  • rgmanager
  • A <service> in /etc/cluster/cluster.conf specifying a domain that does not match the name of one of the defined <failoverdomains/>
