How does LVM find which PV belongs to which VG?

Issue

  • I created a vg and added some disk like "/dev/sda, /dev/adb ..." followed by a reboot.

  • So, how does LVM find which PV belongs to which VG, by the device name like /dev/sda or by the disk's UUID?

  • When I change the device name manual, can LVM still find the right PV for the VG?
