No output from multipath -l since kernel upgrade to RHEL6.2

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Since upgrade to from 6.1z to 6.2 (2.6.32-220), the multipath -l shows no information.
  • When restarting the multipathd, the following errors are in the /var/log/messages file:

Jan 19 17:57:30 HOST multipathd: /sbin/scsi_id exitted with 1

Jan 19 17:57:30 HOST multipathd: /sbin/scsi_id exitted with 1
Jan 19 17:57:30 HOST multipathd: /sbin/scsi_id exitted with 1
Jan 19 17:57:30 HOST multipathd: /sbin/scsi_id exitted with 1
  • The directory /dev/mapper is also empty:
# ls -la /dev/mapper
total 0
drwxr-xr-x  2 root root     60 Jan 19 17:36 .
drwxr-xr-x 18 root root   3780 Jan 19 18:00 ..
crw-rw----  1 root root 10, 58 Jan 19 17:35 control

# dmsetup info
No devices found
