TIPC module not loading in RHEL6

Issue

  • In Redhat 5.4 workstation we were able to run.
    [root@localhost ~]# uname -r
    2.6.18-164.9.1.el5
    [root@localhost ~]# modinfo tipc
    filename:       /lib/modules/2.6.18-164.9.1.el5/kernel/net/tipc/tipc.ko
    version:        1.6.1
    license:        Dual BSD/GPL
    description:    TIPC: Transparent Inter Process Communication
    srcversion:     BA179BC9E6770DC035F62CB
    depends:        
    vermagic:       2.6.18-164.9.1.el5 SMP mod_unload gcc-4.1
    module_sig:     883f3504b1f60e1984ba14248e4e6f411223fb09b41bb9c3b11291e9446fe41c3a443b664d4ba6609f4b69f6531e596c206f9258eb1befa3c3e19e4015
    
  • We have since upgraded to Redhat 6.1 workstation and now we are not able to do this any longer.

    [root@rhel6 ~]# uname -r
    2.6.32-220.2.1.el6.x86_64
    [root@rhel6 ~]# modinfo tipc
    ERROR: modinfo: could not find module tipc
