The uuidd service writes wrong PID (process ID) in the pid-file in Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Issue
- Checking the status of
uuiddthrough theservicecommand does not work properly because the PID value written byuuiddinto the PID file (/var/lib/libuuid/uuidd.pid) is wrong. - The status of the uuidd daemon is not correct as shown by the service command. The stored PID is not the PID of the running uuidd daemon.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise 5 (RHEL 5)
- e2fsprogs-1.39-23.el5_5.1
