rsync changes the symbolic link in RHEL5 and RHEL6

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Using rsync to keep two server directory locations in sync.  The source and destination have the same directory structure.  A symlink at the source and destination have the same name but point to different directories.  The symlinks get updated on the destination even though the source has an older time stamp.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5 and 6
  • rsync (using ssh)
