The virtual machine disk is no longer sparse after importing from Xen to RHEV

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • A Xen virtual machine with a raw, sparse disk was converted using virt-v2v but, upon import into the RHEV environment, the disk became fully allocated. Is this expected?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV) 3.0
  • Conversion Server: Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.2 with virt-v2v-0.8.3
