Evolution addressbook failure in RHEL6.5.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.5
  • evolution-2.32.3-30.el6.x86_64

Issue

  • On adding the new contact to one particular address book it gets related on all the other books.
  • Not able to delete address book from evolution.
  • While deletion of address book from evolution it throws pop-up window with following message "Could not remove address book"
  • Also the contacts from one address book can edit/delete from other address book

Resolution

Available Workaround :

Follow the steps below to eliminate this behaviour .

1. File->New->Address book

2. It'll open with preselected "On This Computer" type

3. Change it to _any other_, like Type: "On LDAP Server"

4. Change it back to Type: "On This Computer"
now on save the book source should have set the relative_uri.

5.Try to delete the address-book.

Now address books are deleted easily.

1. Open evolution client
2. Add new address book File --> New --> Address-book
3. Right click on address book --> Delete
4. A pop up window with error message appears.
