Installing a Windows 2008/2012/7/8 (x86,x64) VMs with a VirtIO system disk fails to load virtio drivers from virtio vFloppy disk.

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • As per this kbase article installed virtio-win package on rhevm system, and uploaded 'vfd' file to iso-storage domain. Post creating the Windows VM clicked on 'Run Once' and attached virti-win floppy disk but clicking the 'Load Driver' option does not detect the drivers and hence not able to move forward.

screenshot

  • Installation of Windows 2008 R2 on Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, is failing with a message No devices could be found. Make sure the driver files are correct and located on the driver installation media even after attaching virtio-win floppy disk correctly.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization(RHEV) 3.X
  • Windows Operating system as Guest
