Issue

• We have some specific questions regarding web-services and JTA transaction support in JBoss EAP 5.2.0.

• We have an EJB2.1 application (SLSBs) which offers an RMI/JRMP remote interface to its clients. In the future, we would like to expose the functionality of this application to web-services clients as well (JAX-WS).

• For backward compatibility reasons we are asking ourselves the following questions:

  • Is this possible and supported? We are talking about EJB2.1 and not about EJB3.0 functionality.
  • Is it possible to have user-"like"-transactions for web-services calls on JBoss EAP 5.2.0?
  • We have our EJB2.1 SLSBs functionality exposed as web-services (or EJB3.x SLSBs for that matter). A remote web-service client wants to subsequently call two or more such web-services in a single transaction much like it does now by using a JTA RMI/JRMP user-transaction.
  • If the answer to third point is positive, is there any possibility to have the web-services transactions transaction-sticky?
