Why modprobe shows error "Fatal: module edac_mce_amd not found" while adding edac_mce_amd module form Linux kernel?
Issue
- Server running RHEL 6.4 and MRG-2.4 and failing to start mcelogd with following error.
# mcelogd start
Starting mcelog daemon [FAILED]
AMD Processor family 16: Please load edac_mce_amd module.
CPU is unsupported
- The Red Hat kbase that the AMD processor family xx CPU is not supported https://access.redhat.com/site/solutions/158503 but the resolution said to load edac_mce_amd module but unable to find this module.
# modprobe edac_mce_amd
"Fatal: module edac_mce_amd not found"
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux MRG 2.4
- kernel-3.8.13-rt14.20.el6rt
