Why does upgrade fail due to kpartx version conflict on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.6?

Issue

  • DVD media with RHEL 5.6 is inserted into the drive. No error messages were printed in system log file. During manual upgrade of kpartx, it printed messages :

Manually upgrading procedure :

$/bin/rpm -Uv --ignoresize --nodeps kpartx-0.4.7-42.el5.x86_64.rpm

ERRNO: 2, STDOUT: Preparing packages for installation..., STDERR: warning: kpartx-0.4.7-42.el5.x86_64.rpm: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY,      key ID 37017186
package kpartx-0.4.7-42.el5.x86_64 is already installed
