How long are events logs kept in RHEV environment?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.0
  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.1
  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.2

Issue

  • Red Hat Enteprise Virtualization keeps a list of events. These events can be seen in the RHEV-M GUI under the "Events" tab. Events are not kept indefinitely, but are removed after a certain amount of time.

Resolution

  • By default, events are kept for 30 days, after which they are garbage collected. This interval is called the event aging threshold, and can be modified via the following command:
# rhevm-config -s AuditLogAgingThreashold=45
  • Restart jbossas:
# service jbossas restart
Stopping jbossas: [ OK ]
Starting jbossas: [ OK ]
  • Checking if the new:
# rhevm-config -g AuditLogAgingThreashold
AuditLogAgingThreashold : 45 version: general
  • The example above sets the default aging threshold to 45 days.

  • Note: For 3.1 and newer you'll need to restart the ovirt-engine service

# service ovirt-engine restart
