kdump service fails with the message "Rootfs device /dev/cciss/XXXX is not resettable"
Issue
- kdump service fails on HP ProLiant DL585 G2 system.
- Restarting kdump service throw following warning messages on terminal:
# service kdump restart
Stopping kdump: [ OK ]
No kdump initial ramdisk found. [WARNING]
Rebuilding /boot/initrd-2.6.32-131.0.15.el6.x86_64kdump.img
Can not save vmcore to target device /dev/cciss/c0d1. This device can not be initialized in kdump kernel as it is not resettable
Failed to run mkdumprd
or
# service kdump restart
