Apache - Forward slash needed at end of url

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • I'm trying to figure out how to tell apache to load a web page whether it has a forward slash at the end or not.
  • Example:

    This URL: http://system.linux.example/myapp

    Gives me this error:
    Not Found

The requested URL /myapp was not found on this server.

Apache/2.2.3 (Red Hat) Server at system.linux.example Port 80

IF however I add a backslash to the end of the URL, like this:

    http://system.linux.example/myapp/

I get the proper web page displayed as well as the rewrite which includes SSL (Https)

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
  • Apache 2.2.3
  • Alias defined as:

    Alias /myapp/ /unixapp/bin/mycoolapp/
