Boot process hangs for the disk, encrypted using luks and bind to TPM

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Boot process hangs when "rd.luks.uuid=" is not present on kernel command line for the disk encrypted using luks and bind to TPM. The issue is seen for the non-boot disk while boot disk too is encrypted and has "rd.luks.uuid" present for the boot disk. Boot process halts at asking passphrase for the encrypted part of the boot disk and after entering the passphrase, the boot process hangs. Here the passphrase is being asked for the already decrypted part of the boot disk.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8.4
    • TPM2, luks
