ext4 filesystem corruption via userspace program

Issue

We have a 4 node CEPH cluster running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.1. Every node has 4 partitions which are formatted as ext4 and act as a CEPH object storage. The CEPH daemon's usage of extended attributes causes a corruption of the filesystem.
