RHEV: How to copy a template from one Data Center to other in the same RHEV Environment?

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 2.2

Issue

  • Is there a way to copy a template from one Data Center to other in the same RHEV environment?

Resolution

Currently it is not possible to copy a template from one Data Center to other in the same RHEV environment becuase there is only one table in RHEV database for the template and UUID of an original template would be copied when exporting it.

As a workaround:

1. Create a VM from a template.

2. Create a new template based on the VM created above. This new template would be the same with the original template.

3. Export the new template into a export Storage Domain.

4. Attach the export Storage Domain to the new Data Center.

5. Import the exported template.
