Multipath devices are not created at boot time

Issue

  • The following errors are displayed in the logs at system boot
kernel: device-mapper: table: 253:27: multipath: error getting device
kernel: device-mapper: ioctl: error adding target to table
  • Duplicate PV errors are being shown when running lvm related commands.

Found duplicate PV 2sCKvF0VWBfqa8oT33jHhcLYXcDTCv9E: using /dev/sdp1 not /dev/sdh1

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • device-mapper-multipath
  • LVM2 volume groups created on top of the multipath'd LUNs
