How do the ACLs work even if it is not mounted with the option acl?

Issue

  • While applying ACLs to a directory who is mounted in a fs with the next fstab options:

/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 /       ext3    defaults        1 1

There is no explicitly indicate that we can use ACLs on it and the ACLs that we applied are working fine.

Is it working ok?

  • How do the ACLs work if it is not mounted with the option acl?
