Issue

Issue
Is it possible to use Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 (RHEL 5) server as a node for Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV) as well as Red Hat Cluster (RHC)?

When installing ricci it conflicts with the fence-agents package installed by RHEV

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5

Resolution

It is not possible to use RHEL5 as both hypervisor node and as cluster node at the same time. If for some reason RHC issue fence on its cluster node which is also acting as RHEV node, the RHEV environment will go down completely. The same can happen if RHEV issue a fencing on the cluster node.
Hence this limitation is for the stability of both Cluster and RHEV environment.
