The latest version of sudo shipped in RHEL 6.x breaks ldap configuration

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • In Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.0 sudo was compiled to use LDAP, and the LDAP configuration file for sudo was /etc/ldap.conf. In Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.1 sudo has been changed to make use of /etc/nss_ldap.conf. This is a regression because it breaks an existing configuration file location supported in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.0
  • How do I have to configure RHEL6 to use sudo with LDAP maps?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (several versions)
