NFS with Kerberos authentication: How can we give access for a process to the share with kerberos authentication?

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • NFS with kerberos authentication requires a user ticket to work. This will be very easy if the user is already logged in by fetching the ticket manually or the ticket is automatically fetched at the log in time. What if this kerberos authentication is required for a service to access the nfs share? Eg,

If the DocumentRoot of the web server is an NFS share mounted using kerberos authentication, then user apache need a ticket to access the share because httpd process is run using "apache" user's privileges. This "apache" user cannot log in interactively and fetch the ticket and it's not practical for admin to manucally renew ticket for apache user. How can we achieve this?
