Fabric8 Maven Plug-in: Imagestream is created but there is no deployment

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

When using the Fabric8 Maven Plug-in to deploy a Fuse 7 application to OpenShift 4, a builder pod is created, which executes fully to produce a new imagestream. However, the plug-in fails before this process is complete, so it does not proceed to the next stage of deployment.

The mode of failure varies -- the plug-in may report an HTTP error 500, or just silently quit without any message.

Environment

  • Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform
    • 4.5.22 and later
  • Red Hat Fuse
    • 7.7 and earlier
  • Fabric8 Maven Plug-in

This this specific problem does not occur with OpenShift versions 4.5.20 and earlier. It should not reproduce with Fuse 7.8 and later.
