Issue

Mounting a Samba share results in 11055: session setup failed: ERRSRV - ERRerror (Non-specific error code.).

In /var/log/messages several errors are being logged:

winbindd[9297]: [2011/05/07 01:55:17, 0] rpc_client/cli_pipe.c:cli_nt_session_open(1451) 
winbindd[9297]:   cli_nt_session_open: cli_nt_create failed on pipe \samr to machine OHLEWDCP0023.  Error was NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED

mount.smbfs[11055]:   tdb(/var/cache/samba/gencache.tdb): tdb_lock failed on list 20 ltype=0 (Bad file descriptor)

  • Samba share on a NAS (unknown vendor/model)
  • Windows domain requiring authentication over Kerberos
