Server side includes not working on httpd

Issue

  • We set up httpd for server side includes
    Options Includes
    AddOutputFilter INCLUDES .shtml
  • But the included pages are not seen in the requested .shtml page. The server side includes directive in this page is like the following:
    <!-- #include virtual="/includes/includedpage.html" -->

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • JBoss Enterprise Web Server (EWS)
  • Apache httpd
