ifup-local is not run for bridge members or bond slaves by ifup

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • In RHEL 6's network-scripts, the ifup-local script is not invoked for ethernet interfaces that are bridge members or bond slaves by ifup / ifup-eth.
  • My expectation is that ifup-local will be invoked on ifup of any interface as it is the standard method to customize the network-scripts ifup process.
  • How do I execute /sbin/ifup-local for bonding or bridge devices?
  • How do I apply ethtool options to bonded or bridged network interfaces?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • initscripts-9.03.38-1.el6_4.1.x86_64
  • Network interfaces bound together with bonding or bridge driver
