Using Simple Content Access (SCA) to avoid using double the amount of subscriptions for test and production VMs hosted in a mixed virtualization infrastructure

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

In our environment, our virtualization hosts host both test and production VMs (i.e. we do not have dedicated virtualization hosts for test VMs and others for production VMs). Both our test and our production Satellite servers are running on VMs hosted in our mixed virtualization infrastructure, which means we have to attach the Red Hat Enterprise Linux for Virtual Datacenters with Smart Management to the same hypervisor on each of the test and production Satellite servers. How can we avoid to have to use the double amount of Red Hat Enterprise Linux for Virtual Datacenters with Smart Management subscriptions to entitle all of our test and production VMs?

Environment

  • Red Hat Satellite 6.5 or later.
