LVS: Support transport of routing tables?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

We are investigating possible uses of LVS. In load-balancer appliances from vendors such as Cisco, the VRRP protocol (or similar) is utilized to share routing tables between active and backup routers. This allows sessions established between client and real-server via the active router to be more transparantly taken over by the backup router when the primary router fails (or vice-versa).

Does a similar mechanism exist for the LVS primary and backup router?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6 High Availability Add-on

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5

  • Linux Virtual Server (LVS)
