Page allocation failure messages in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4, How do I prevent them?

Issue

  • In RHEL4 32bits system enough RAM and swap memory is available but the system is going out of memory with the following error messages in the log file:
xxxx: page allocation failure. order:1, mode:0x1050
xxxx: page allocation failure. order:1, mode:0x1050
xxxx: page allocation failure. order:1, mode:0x1050
xxxx: page allocation failure. order:1, mode:0x1050
xxxx: page allocation failure. order:1, mode:0x1050
