Starting NFS returns "Error: RPC MTAB does not exist" error
Issue
- Attempting to start NFS returns the following:
[root@server /]# service nfs restart
Shutting down NFS mountd: [ OK ]
Shutting down NFS daemon: [ OK ]
Shutting down NFS quotas: [ OK ]
Shutting down NFS services: [ OK ]
Starting NFS services: [ OK ]
Starting NFS quotas: [ OK ]
Starting NFS daemon: [ OK ]
Starting NFS mountd: [ OK ]
Starting RPC idmapd: Error: RPC MTAB does not exist.
- Even with this error, everything appears to be working correctly
- Customer issue does not seem to be related to the bug initially found: 453706
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.5
- MTAB error
- NFS recently setup on the machine and working
- Did not have autofs installed. Installed autofs for ticket, to test possible bug
